The Nomination Process for the City's Bridge Builders Award Is Underway

Each year the City identifies and honors people who have worked to bridge differences in the community in an effort to improve the quality of life in Charlottesville.

In 1998, the newly renovated bridge on West Main Street was named the Drewary J. Brown Memorial Bridge in honor of "bridge builders" in the community.

Bridge Builders are those who encourage people in the community to work together to build a better community. The Bridge Builders Award recognizes people in the community who have made a memorable contribution to the Charlottesville community by reducing barriers and bridging gaps that exist between people with different backgrounds, ethnicities and economic status.

Anyone who is committed to increasing opportunities, breaking down barriers and promoting unity in the community is eligible for the award.

All nominations should be sent to the Clerk of the City Council. Forms are available at www.charlottesville.org/resident. All nominations must be received by April 14, 2005.
