Pedestrian Struck Leads to Bizarre Incident

February 18, 2005

Just before 5 p.m., a pedestrian was struck on the corner of Emmet Street and Stadium Road in Charlottesville.

While a university bus stopped to call an ambulance, police say a man on the bus became unruly and started attacking other passengers.

A young woman crossing the street was hit by an SUV traveling North on Emmett street. She was rushed to UVA Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

During the incident, while the aforementioned bus was stopped, waiting for help to arrive for the young woman, a man riding on the bus became erratic and started hitting passengers. An eye-witness says the man then started hitting himself against the doors of the bus.

The man arrested is John Eugene Myers of Charlottesville.
He is being charged with assault and battery on a police officer and assault on two bus passengers.
