An Albemarle County family will have to start from scratch when they get home from vacation. A fire severely damaged their house along Jester Lane. It happened Thursday night at 9:30.
An Earlysville Firefighter and his son were driving by when they saw the fire and called 911.
Drivers along Rt. 29 were able to see the thick plume of smoke.
Chris Lesich, one of the first people on the scene described what he saw, "We were driving down the street and we saw some smoke coming from the chimney and we thought they were burning some wrapping paper. And we came back down and we saw a lot of smoke just coming out of the whole house."
The family was away on vacation when the fire started.
There is no word on a cause.
