A Senate committee on Monday, February 21st unanimously endorsed a bill that would make it illegal for people to take pictures up a woman's skirt in a public place.
The Courts of Justice sent the bill to the Senate floor after making a couple of minor changes.
The measure was drafted in response to an incident last year in which a man was caught filming up teenagers' skirts at a Norfolk mall. Prosecutors were only able to convict Jeffrey Swisher of disorderly conduct because the law only prohibits unauthorized videotaping or
photographing of people who are in private areas, such as dressing
rooms.
This bill would close that loophole.
