Zelikow Moves To State Department

The Director of UVA's Miller Center of Public Affairs Philip Zelikow has been appointed to a high profile position in Washington.

Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice named Zelikow 'counselor to the state department.' He formerly served as the Executive Director of the '9/11 Commission.'

The counselor is a principal officer of the state department. As counselor Mr. Zelikow will serve as a senior policy adviser on a wide range of issues, and he'll undertake special assignments as directed by the secretary.

The Miller Center will soon conduct a nationwide search for Zelikow's replacement.
