Virginia Traffic Fatalities Down

Traffic fatalities on state highways across Virginia hit an all time low in 2004.

That's according to Virginia State Police. They say fewer people died in car accidents on the highway last year, than in the past four years.

There were 900 traffic fatalities reported in 2004, that's 42 less than in 2003.
Police attribute the drop to their own unrelenting efforts and more responsible driving by motorists.

Of last year's accident–related deaths, 13 happened over Christmas and New Year’s.
