Fire officials are investigating a fire that destroyed a home in Fluvanna County early Thursday morning, March 3rd.
Several fire crews responded to the empty house on South Boston Road around 10a.m.
Utility workers reported the blaze after they spotted thick smoke coming from the chimney. It took about 20 minutes for fire crews to contain the blaze.
"We had fire escaping from the window on this side and the first floor on this side. We immediately began fire suppression evolutions, stretching three hand lines and quickly took control of the fire," said Assistant Chief Rich Constantino of the Lake Monticello Fire Department.
The owner of the home was at work at the time. No one was injured.
