It was another long night for the city's school board as they worked to put the finishing touches on a controversial budget for next year on Thursday, March 3rd.
For weeks now, the Charlottesville City School Board has been working to knock out a budget that everyone can agree on. While the process has been controversial from the beginning, and the boardmembers welcome the input from the public, they are staying focused.
Parents, teachers, and students are staying focused as well while making more pleas to the decision-makers to keep the staff as is. The pleas were not cutting some staff members just to save a few bucks.
Another item that did receive a vote was a hike in out-of-district tuition. Its vote passed with only one board member opposing. The increases range from $200 to $400 per student.
The boardmembers were not able to pass a budget, and called off the meeting at midnight. Members of the board meet again on Thursday, March 9.
