Two separate fires in the early afternoon on Friday, March 4th that both occurred in the UVa Medical Center left UVa Police and the Charlottesville Fire Department investigating their cause.
Fire fighters responded to the first blaze on the third floor of a lounge area of the hospital around 1:30pm.
Automatic sprinklers contained most of the flames of the fire until the fire department could get there.
Almost two hours later another alarm went off; this fire was on the ground level of a stairwell.
Fire officials said the flames were contained shortly after they arrived, but they had minor problems with congestion of people in the hospital.
No patients were affected during either of the fires, according to officials.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing to see if the two fires are related.
