State Police Investigate Fatal Accident on I-64

January 9, 2008

State Police are investigating a fatal accident on Interstate 64. It happened shortly before 9 p.m. on Tuesday night near the Ivy exit.

Police have identified the man as 36-year-old Michael Williams of Waynesboro.

Police said Williams' car went off the right side of the highway, hit an embankment and went airborne. The car flipped and Williams was thrown from the vehicle.

Police said Williams was not wearing a seat belt and speed was a factor. He was the only person involved in the wreck.
