The brackets are out and once again, there isn't a slot for the Cavaliers. That's one reason why some fans said it's time for Pete Gillen to go.
“I think it was time he was fired,” said John Lewis.
“I think the coach has had enough chances and it's time to move on,” added Megan Mitchen.
Despite a decent effort, Virginia lost to Duke 76-64 in the ACC tournament quarterfinals Friday night. Some blame the loss on his coaching style, or lack thereof.
“I think the problems with our teams usually can be connected to coaching. We usually have poor discipline and bad defense,” commented Lewis.
Although the coach has been under fire for the last few seasons, there are some that said give Gillen a chance.
“I think he's honestly a good guy and obviously no coach wants to lose, I think he's just struggling. If he goes back to another mid–major school I think he'll have a lot of success I just don't see him as an ACC caliber coach at this point,” said Chad Merica.
Most students are looking forward to a new coach and in turn, to a better team.
“I hope we get a good one in here so we can start winning some games,” said Lewis.
