House Republicans in Richmond have launched an election year drive to resume phasing out the car tax.
Continuing the rollback of the local tax on personal cars and pickup trucks comes as Virginia revenues pile up, resulting in the state surplus.
Gov. Mark Warner, however, says that continuing the rollback would be sustainable only as long as the state sees what he calls exceptional revenue growth.
