Most everyone needs a good pick-me-up in the morning and more and more people are turning to 106.1 The Corner for their daily dose.
Getting you up and off to work one song at a time morning radio D.J. Tad Abbey has been with The Corner, the newest addition to the Charlottesville Radio Group, since it first aired over a year ago.
The different, not so run of the mill play lists have catapulted 106.1 to the top of the airwaves.
“We are very, very fortunate in the fact that The Corner came on and it filled a void of what people wanted,” explained Abbey.
Looking to make it to the silver screen Abbey abandoned his acting goals and turned to tunes. He says its Charlottesville’s musical culture that lured him to the college town after getting his feet wet in the Outer Banks.
“There is just an unbelievable hot bed of music here and more importantly the support for local music in this area is unreal,” Abbey said.
Taking the mic from 5:30 to 10 in the mornings he brings you music, news, sports and weather and throws in a contest every once in a while.
Though he only graces the airwaves for those 4 and half hours he wants you to know,
“I work a lot more than 4 hours a day.”
The joy of being behind the mic nobody knows when you cut loose for a good time or two.
