Jailbreak Trial Begins

The trial of several men accused of trying to break out of jail has begun in the Albemarle county circuit court.

The incident occurred on the morning of August 14, 2004.

Two defendants are charged with assault, abduction and the attempt to escape jail. Another is charged with assault and abduction.

The court heard testimony from two witnesses from the Commonwealth's attorney's office. One of the witnesses was a 74-year-old corrections officer beaten and hog-tied on the night of the incident.
