For five days, hundreds of authors will help celebrate literacy here in the Piedmont. On Wednesday, March 16, the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library kicked off It's Annual Festival of the Book event, now entering its 11th year.
The festival features over 100 different programs. One of the headline events on Tuesday - The Opening Ceremony: 'Why Read', with author and UVA professor Mark Edmundson.
The Virginia Festival of the Book runs through Sunday, March 20th. All of the events are free and open to the public. It's expected to draw over 20,000 people.
