State Senator Emmett Hanger met with the Senior Statesmen of Virginia at Northside Public Library on Wednesday, March 9th.
Hanger, a republican from the 24th district, was on hand to discuss this year's General Assembly session. He spoke on issues including taxes, water and land conservation, and education.
The senator may also be working towards a new role in the Commonwealth. Some of his supporters are petitioning to get him on the ballot for Lieutenant Governor.
"It's really a method in terms of keeping options open. Those petitions have to be accomplished by April 15," said Senator Hanger. "As I was evaluating whether or not to run, we're really using that as a gauge of support as well, and so far I've been very encouraged."
Hanger plans to announce something more definite by next week.
