Albemarle County police are asking for your help in solving a homicide.
The department is still investigating last month's murder of a Columbia man found in Darden Towe Park. Police recently released new evidence in the case.

The new evidence is surveillance video from a near-by gas station on Pantops just eight hours before the man's body was found.

Back on February 21st, a woman out walking her dog called Albemarle County Police when she saw the body of Anthony Lorenzo Johnson lying near a car along the Rivanna Trail.

"The homicide occurred sometime between the evening hours of February 20, 2005 and the early morning hours of February 21, 2005," said Lt. Greg Jenkins of Albemarle County Police.

So far, the investigation has brought several leads, but with this new surveillance video there is hope for even more.

"We're confident our victim was seen in the Pantops area of Route 250 East and Richmond Road," Lt. Jenkins added.

In the video, 22-year old Johnson is seen driving his 1981 Buick Regal into an Amoco gas station. Minutes later, Johnson walks inside where he exchanges money with the cashier before heading back outside toward the pay phones.

Police are confident there's someone holding the piece of the puzzle they're looking for.

"We're certain there is an individual in the community somewhere that holds the key information that could lead the arrest of suspect," said Lt. Jenkins.

If anyone can assist police with an arrest by providing information, they should call Crimestoppers (434) 977-4000. All calls are always confidential.
