According to University police, 28-year-old Tara Lynn Hamilton is responsible for the death of her four-month-old baby boy, Cordell. Hamilton, a truck driver from Arizona, was apparently traveling with her child Wednesday night, March 23, when something happened.

She took Baby Cordell to a hospital in Winchester Virginia, but the child's injuries needed special attention. Police say the infant was rushed to the University of Virginia Health System, where he later died. Medical officials had suspicions about Cordell's injuries and contacted authorities.

"It's very disturbing. Anytime there's a death, especially of an infant where you question the circumstances around that. It's very troubling," said University Police Sergeant, Melissa Fielding.

Hamilton is being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail without bond. She has been charged with felony homicide, which suggests abuse and neglect. The investigation is ongoing.

Hamilton's next court date is set for April 1.
