Lunchtime is a favorite for students, but it may soon cost them a little more for that mac and cheese.
With food and labor costs going up, the Albemarle School Board is considering increasing meals by $0.25.
The last time they rose prices was six years ago. Since then, they have cut labor costs, but may not be able to avoid the inevitable.
"I'm hopeful that increased revenue from that will also enable us to serve higher nutritional foods," said Chair Gordon Walker of the Albemarle School Board. "In other words, healthier foods in our school lunch programs would be something I would encourage at the same time we're increasing the price."
