Fluvanna County Discuss Verizon Cell Tower Approval

January 23, 2008

The Fluvanna County planning commission will discuss the approval of two 125 foot cell towers that Verizon wireless is asking to build in the Fork Union area in the county.

The permit would allow the towers to be placed in rural preservation areas. County planners say allowing Verizon to build could benefit all residents of the county.

"I think there's a high demand as we all know that everyone uses a cell phone these days so I believe that not only with cell phones but also Verizon offers wireless connection to internet now" said Kate Cooper, Fluvanna Senior planner.

If the commission approves the project the final decision will rest with the board of supervisors.
