A group of concerned residents met on Saturday to discuss how to make Charlottesville more bike friendly.
Many bike riders say they've noticed that there's been an increase in "bike versus car" incidents in the city.
They say they're concerned by the response, or lack there of, from city officials.
They met to bring attention to this growing problem and find a sense of responsibility between cyclists and motorists.
"(We want to) announce a bike safety campaign here in Charlottesville so that we are promoting shared roadways and we hope that will kick off an annual spring bike festival where we promote bike culture here in Charlottesville," said Shelly Stern, Director of the Community Bikes Program.
The meeting was sponsored by the Alliance for Community Choice in Transportation and the Community Bikes Program of Charlottsville.
