One man is dead and another in the hospital after a head on collision occurred in Albemarle County on Thursday, April 7.
It happened just before 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7 along the 1300 block of Scottesville Road near Coles Rolling Road in the town of Keene.
Crash scene investigators say the two cars crashed head on killing one of the drivers on impact. The driver who died is 43-year old Timmy R. Dunkman of Dillwyn, Virginia.
Investigators say he was driving his Honda Accord along southbound Scottsville Road when it ran into northbound traffic, hitting a Ford Taurus.
In the Ford Taurus was another man who rescuers had to cut out of the vehicle, and fly to the University of Virginia Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.
Traffic was diverted onto Coles Rolling Road while Route 20 was shutdown in both directions for three hours. Investigators say it does not appear alcohol or weather played any part in the accident.
