Friday, April 8

An international group of peace walkers made a pilgrimage into Charlottesville to protest what they see as a dangerous move towards more nuclear power.

Walkers from five countries held a vigil Friday, April 8 at Dominion Power on Hydraulic Road to oppose both nuclear weapons, and Dominion Power's proposal for nuclear reactors at the North Anna Power Plant.

After the vigil, the walkers met with "local" opponents of the reactors, to walk along U.S. 29 with banners and flags in hand.

The group plans to travel to New York City on May 1, 2005 for the United Nations Review Conference of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.
