Charlottesville Youth Commission Seeks Students

Video will be available shortly.

A new teen-age leadership group is in the making here in Charlottesville thanks to a new partnership between the Department of Parks and Recreation and Leadership Charlottesville.

The Charlottesville Youth Commission is seeking 20 Charlottesville High School students to participate. The group is expected to recognize needs in the community and then plan and execute community service projects around those needs.

"The belief is that the youth are assets to the community and have a lot to offer," said Erica Sims, Crow Recreation Center Coordinator. "This will allow us to kind of guide them, help them make the right decisions and really get involved."

The first informational session will take place Wednesday, April 13 from 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. at the Carver Recreation Center.

Applications are available at the Charlottesville Parks and Recreation office in the City Hall Annex. For additional information, students can call (434) 970-3260.
