Parents Meet To Discuss Children Growing-Up

April celebrates Women and girl wellness month. The teen health center is using this opportunity to educate parents in a series of fireside chats. Tuesday's meeting on April 12 focused on teen sexuality, not only providing them with brainstorming ideas and strategies to talk to their children, but more importantly, accurate information.

"Teenagers tend to over-estimate the sexual activity of themselves, and their peers and parents tend to underestimate it. So we're trying to provide them the information so that their operating from a base of reality," said Teen Health Center Representative Mary Sullivan.

The Center For Disease and Control cited that 65 to 75 percent of teens are sexually active when they graduate High School.
