Organic Foods have been trendy for quite some time, but now some say to really lose the pounds, focus on the way you don't cook them.
"It's the closest source to what God intended us to eat. It's raw and all the live energies are there and present and nothing is destroyed, said General Manager of Integral Yoga Jaya Deva.
That's right--cooking your fruit and vegetables can actually eliminate enzymes, which help us store and keep the nutrients that our bodies really need.
"For a limited period of time, I think it can be a good thing because it's very cleansing, purifying, and detoxifiying to the body," said Herbologist and nutritionist Terri Saunders.
But people can over-do munching on raw fruits and vegetables, and nutritionist warn that could cleanse their bodies too quickly - doing more harm than good.
"The symptoms of cleansing could be headaches, fatigue, colds, and flu-like symptoms," said Saunders.
If eaten in correct portions, experts agree that these raw foods will make you feel healthier and happier. An easy way to add them into your diet is to juice them--which gives you a variety of vegetables with different health benefits.
The three most blended vegetables are beets, celery, and carrots.
"Oh it's delicious. Your body knows exactly what do with it, it's rich, feels good, feels strong, and you'll know it," said Deva.
Another trend starting to catch-on is fermented fruit and vegetables. Yes they are also un-cooked, but may have even more health benefits.
"So when a lot of people go on a diet that's rich in cultured and fermented foods they feel better emotionally and find that they don't need their anti-depressants," added Saunders.
You can find fermented fruits at many herb and health stores as well as enzyme supplements you can add to cooked products.
