Albemarle-Charlottesville Jail Officer Honored

A heroic officer from the Albemarle-Charlottesville regional jail has been honored for his bravery during an attempted jail break last August. Officer Joseph Woodson has been named jail officer of the year by the Virginia Association of Regional Jails.

Woodson was one of two officers taken hostage last August. He persuaded his captors to release the other hostage, Officer Harold Terry.

Woodson is the first Albemarle-Charlottesville jailer to receive this honor.
