Friday was Earth Day, and UVa celebrated by raising awareness of problems the environment is facing.
Hybrid cars and a Vespa were set up outside Thornton Hall to show more efficient ways of getting around.
Students also planted trees, and collected trash to prove a point.
"The bags over here are all the bottles and newspapers we picked up from Cabell Hall that weren't going to be recycled," explained first year Lori Nelson. "They were just thrown out, and we picked up a lot of bags full."
Nelson said she thinks students just do not think to recycle, but she hopes today will change that.
