For year the Charlottesville Downtown Association took care of the money for fireworks and activities at McIntire Park, but for the past two years volunteers have donated money to "Save the Fireworks Foundation" to sponsor the event. They said they are in desperate need of funding for the event this year.

"Our goal every year is not only to have safe, fun, family friendly event, but every year our goal is to make sure that the firework show itself is just a little bit bigger and it will be this year too," said Ray Caddell.

Save the Fireworks Foundation is taking donations right now for this coming July 4th festivities.
