A small group of supporters for Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee held up signs along Route 29 in front of the Toys 'R Us in Albemarle County Saturday afternoon.
They say despite their candidate's fading momentum and his slumping poll numbers, they have faith in the former Arkansas governor heading into Super Tuesday.
"He's definitely still in the race," proclaimed Huckabee supporter Carrie Wigal. "Only eight percent of the delegates are accounted for at this point. There's still 92 percent of delegates out there and he is very much in this race and there's people that are all over the country that are supporting him."
Huckabee won the Iowa caucus but has failed to gain traction since.
Voters here in the commonwealth will head to the polls a week from Tuesday.

Mike Huckabee has solutions, plans and a great track record. Unfortunately, it has been left to those American citizens who can access cable stations and/or internet to get his words out. The people who came out Saturday, to stand outside for a couple hours to show their support, couldn't hand out transcripts of the debates or a video of his speeches... but they put out his name, his website and hope that we don't have to "settle" when voting for our candidate. Thank you for reporting the event on your station.
Thanks for covering the event and for the good reporting. Actually Huckabee is doing amazingly well despite what folks are saying. This is truly the first real grassroots campaign I've seen and I'm pumped. Anybody that grew up in my generation and later can certainly appreciate Mike Huckabee running a race from the ground floor. While other are pumping literally millions into their own campaign, or courting the favor of major media heads, Mike's support is coming from common America. And it's working. Let's get behind this down-to-earth effort to put a man who hasn't wavered AT ALL on the issues. Go to www.wallbuilders.com - look at the voters guide - and vote the "YES" column.
It was a great event Saturday. Mike Huckabee is the only candidate who wants to end the IRS, who's talking about preventative health, and who wants to end our dependence on foreign oil in 10 years. He is the candidate with new ideas that will make America a better place. Go Huckabee!
