Authorities arrested Jamison Clyde Ripley on April 20. He's being charged with forcible sodomy.
Region Ten runs 15 facilities for the mentally retarded. Police are not saying at which home the assault occurred. Officials at the organization believe the alleged victim complained about the incident. Ripley was then removed from the home before he was arrested.
There have been some questions about whether there was adequate supervision at the facility. The Region Ten Director believes there was, but says they're taking steps in hopes this won't happen again.
"Now we're reviewing all the levels of supervision across our residential setting to make adjustments if that's required so we can take action to limit the likelihood that anything like this can happen in the future," said Region Ten Director, Phillip Campbell.
Ripley is being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail without bond.
