Student Stabbed Speaks Out

Video will be available shortly.

May 3, 2005

Fourteen year old Adam Dudley describes an incident where he was stabbed last Friday while walking home from Buford Middle School: "I was walking home from school and he called my name and told me to wait. So I just stopped and waited for him to come up there. Then he said that he heard that I still wanted to fight him. I said yes. I went into the street and pushed him. He grabbed me and put me into the hug position and stabbed me in the back."

Dudley walked nearly three blocks to his home where he collapsed.

"I came into the house and collapsed on the sofa and my mom called the ambulance," Dudley explained.

Charlottesville police say the incident happened around 3 p.m. near the Goco Food Mart at the corner of Cherry Avenue and Ninth Street Southwest. It appears the argument might have stemmed from a disagreement about Dudley's girlfriend.

"We had problems. We had a disagreement in school. We had a fight before because he was messing with my girlfriend and threatening her," said the Buford student.

Dudley was rushed by ambulance to the University of Virginia Medical Center suffering from serious stab wounds to the back. He was released on Saturday and he remains at home recovering from his injuries.

The 14-year-old unidentified student accused in the crime was seen in court yesterday and charged with malicious wounding. He was released into the custody of his grandmother pending a May 17th trial date.
