The Republican seat, serving the Rio District on the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors is up for grabs. Monday, Gary Grant announced that he will be in the running. Grant hopes his experience as a long-time resident and past member of the Albemarle County School Board will help his campaign.
"I think government needs to serve people in terms of security, in terms of understanding, security obviously relates to things like fire and rescue, police, judicial services," said Grant.
Grant will find out June 6 if he won the Republican vote. The election will take place on Nov. 8.
