Pocket change will go a long way for one student at Hollymead Elementary. Third-grader Lauren Shifflett suffers from juvenile arthritis so her classmates held a coin drive to raise money for the Arthritis Foundation. Shifflett is the foundation's STAR ambassador this year.

Classrooms also competed to see who could raise the most money. For Lauren's family, the support is overwhelming.

"Not too many people know that children get arthritis, it is such a serious disease that Lauren faces everyday with the pain and medications, and to have the school rally around her just means the world to our family," said Lauren's mom, Amy Shifflett.

The students raised over $800 and the classroom with the most money won a popsicle party.
