Maria Belsik is a 5th grade teacher at Cale Elementary School, and says she loves being a teacher.
"I never come to school not wanting to be here."
Belsik says some days she may not get a thank you from students or staff, but today was not one of those days. As part of teacher appreciation week, Cale Elementary held a cookout to let their educators know exactly how important they are.
"Our teachers just do a wonderful job of meeting the needs of all our kids," says Cale Principal Matt Landahl. "They put in that extra mile, so to speak."
Landahl says he sees the time and effort his teachers put in coming up with creative lessons and doing whatever the can to insure students learn. Their dedication is exactly what students say they are thankful for.
"They work really hard to make sure you know exactly what you're doing and why you're doing it, and how to do it," says 5th Grader Katie Day.
"She always helps me with my homework," says 5th Grader Brennin Flowers. "She never yells at me. She gives me a report. She will push me if I really need to be pushed."
Teachers at the school say they appreciate the pat on the back.
"It' s just nice to feel that people really appreciate what you're doing and what you do everyday for kids in the community," says 5th Grade teacher Julie Gehm.
Belcik agrees, saying, "It's really nice to know that there are people out there that really care about what you're doing and that teaching is important and the kids need us."
