Amber Alert On Cell Phones

It's a scene that's becoming too familiar. News conferences that alert everyone a child is missing. Now most cell phone providers are joining in the fight to recover abducted children.

"There's the potential of reaching 182 million subscribers," said area sales manager, Michelle Neu.

Potentially 100 million more eyes are helping with a new wireless alert program.

"Which would have a huge impact on the exposure in the chances and odds of being able to save a child's life," said Neu.

"The quicker we can find the perpetrator is that the less likely there is there'll be harm come to the child," said Charlottesville Lieutenant Gary Pleasants.

Statistics have shown that the first three hours are crucial when it comes to finding a missing child. Now phone users can join the Amber Alert by just letting their cell phone provider know they want to be a part of the program.
