Law enforcement officers announced that they collected $700, 000 for Special Olympics Virginia.
Local police departments say they really take pride in serving the community and helping raise awareness.
"This is our opportunity to raise some level of awareness throughout this community and communities across the Commonwealth of Virginia in hopes that others will become more knowledgeable and more supportive of these athletes with developmental and intellectual disability," says Charlottesville Police Chief Tim Longo.
