"I moved in here 7 weeks ago but I have never had anything
like this before. This is the first kind of incident as
far as I am concerned," said resident Muhammad Ishiyaku.

Charlottesville Police responded on Monday around 5 p.m. to an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Cherry Avenue for a report of a burglary. They discovered three people in the apartment were bound and several things were taken from the residence. Police announced today that they have arrested an alleged suspect in the case, Shawn Lamont Washington of Troy, Virginia. Neighbors describe the area as a normally quiet place.

"Wherever you may be, such incidents happen from time to
time. I still feel safe. I don't feel anything," said Ishiyaku.

Washington is charged with three counts of robbery, three counts of abduction, and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Police are still hunting for two men they believe were also a part of the robbery. The first suspect at large goes by the nickname of "Reef" and is described as a black male with a dark complexion and dreadlocks. The second suspect at large is also described as a dark-skinned black male with short hair who goes by the nickname of "Tone."
