Families and child advocates across the nation have observed National Missing Children's Day on May 25 for more than 20 years in an effort to make child protection a national priority.
Local authorities say keeping up with kids' routines can help keep kids safe. "What I'd suggest as a parent and as a police officer is that you know who your child's friends are, you know where they go to hang out and you know their good and not so good habits, and if you think they've been abducted and taken against their will, you should contact us immediately," says Lt. John Teixeira with the Albemarle County Police Department.
