Final Charlottesville Achievement Gap Forum

Video will be available shortly.

May 5, 2005

Community leaders, concerned teachers, and parents met to discuss the achievement gap in Charlottesville schools. This was the third community forum meeting organized by the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee.

Their purpose is to allow people of the community to voice concerns as well as solutions to improve achievement with children in the city of Charlottesville.

"This is community driven, it is not just a one person show," said Dr. Alvin Edwards, MLK Committee Chair. "It allows us to fix what's wrong in our community."

Dr. Edwards says that after they gather all the suggestions from each forum, they'll take them to the Charlottesville School Board.

He says there are plans to organize a follow-up forum sometime in August.
