Some big name talent will soon be performing in our city. The Charlottesville Pavilion announced the date of its Grand Opening and inaugural season schedule. At the top of the list, country legend Loretta Lynn, who is slated to hit the stage opening week in July. This season's partial schedule will also feature artists such as Bruce Hornsby, and former Grateful Dead lead man Bob Weir and Ratdog.
"This is something that we're just excited as we can be about," said Kirby Hutto with the Charlottesville Pavilion. "It's sort of a culmination of a long term vision that Corin has had to get a facility to bring these national acts to our local community so music fans don't always have to drive two or three hours."
The new pavilion being built on the east end of the Downtown Mall is expected to be finished by July 27. Tickets for the July 30 Loretta Lynn concert go on sale this Thursday.
