There will be an additional choice on the ballots next week. Democrat David Slutzsky announced he will run for the open Rio District seat on the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors. The seat was held by
David Bowerman for four terms.
Slutzsky, who describes himself as an environmentalist and sustainable development expert says he's running because of the increasing growth in the area.
"I'm one who does not believe that growth is going to go away, so I'm particularly interested in figuring out how to best manage it in a way that preserves the quality of life that has us all living in Central Virginia," said Slutzsky.
There are already at least two other challengers for the seat.
