A grand four-story structure is being planned in the Venable area. The neighborhood is already making way for this huge project. Existing apartment buildings located near the 300 block of 15th St. N.W. will be replaced with a four-story student luxury apartment complex.
City officials are warning residents living in the area to be prepared for construction disturbances for another year and a half if the project is approved by the Charlottesville Planning Commission.
"From a city's perspective, we feel the final products will be worth the temporary disturbance and they'll be there for many decades to come," says Neighborhood Planner Ashley Cooper.
The Charlottesville Planning Commission is expected to review the project plans July 12th. The four story structure will be called "Grand Marc of the Corner." It will consist of 213 units, 533 bedrooms and a 675 space parking garage.
