It is responsible for analyzing intelligence integral in the war on terror, and elsewhere, for the Army. And it is right here in Charlottesville.

Thursday morning, the National Ground Intelligence Center (NGIC) held a ceremony for its change of command. Colonel Dalton Jones will be replaced by Col. John Chiu.

Chiu says he knows first hand the important of NGIC.

"In Korea, where I was the G2 of 8th Army, we had to prepare one of the brigades there for the deployment to Iraq. And obviously we wanted to make sure they got all the training and all the information about Iraq because being a Korea unit they really didn't focus on Iraq at all, so we contacted NGIC," shared the new commander.

Col. Jones is going on to be the Assistant Chief of Staff and Operations for the U.S. Intelligence and Security Command.

NGIC commanders serve two year terms.
