The Albemarle County Fair has come and gone, and clean up efforts are underway.

Officials moved the fair dates up this year in hopes of a better turnout, but after a stormy weekend, numbers show attendance went down from previous years.

Despite the numbers, fair officials still consider the event a success.

"It was a tremendous success because everyone that got here had a blast," says Barbara Lundgren, the Albemarle County Fair Executive Director. "It was the best fair ever. That was the comment all around that it was the best fair ever."

Officials estimate more than 20,000 people came out to the fair this year.
