As if the surprise of Tuesday's storm wasn't enough, imagine having a huge tree fall on your house. A local couple is dealing with it firsthand.

When homeowners Rob and Anna Sullivan decided to check out the movie "War of the Worlds" Tuesday, they had no idea they'd be faced with a mini-disaster of their own.

"Someone mentioned on our way out that a tornado had touched down somewhere in Charlottesville," said Anna Sullivan. "So we're joking on our way home 'ha, ha what if a tornado went through our house.' "

This is what the couple saw when they pulled around the corner to their home along 602 Elliott Avenue: a tree was completely covering their house.

"I definitely had the 'oh my god' and then started laughing reaction," said Robert Sullivan.

The Sullivans say the most surprising thing is that there was very little damage to their home.

"We broke a window throwing a limb off the roof, but that's pretty much the only damage done, [and] that was our fault," commented Anna.

The Sullivans bought their home about a year ago with the intentions of fixing it up, so they don't mind the extra housework. Coincidentally, they just added a new roof.

"My folks were here to put the roof on about a month ago, and they thought it was pretty funny that a tree had fallen on it," said Robert.

However, the tree fall isn't what they think is most disappointing.

"I really wish we were home, I think it would have been awesome to have been inside," said Anna.

The Sullivans hope to have the tree completely cleared from the roof by Wednesday night.
