In Staunton, supporters of troops serving in Iraq didn't let a little rain stop them from showing their gratitude.
The continuous rain did not stop the "Rally in the Valley", which gave people the chance to show support for U.S. Troops and President Bush.
Rhonda Winfield's son, Lance Corporal Jason Redier, was killed in action in Iraq in January. She along with several supports from surrounding areas held the rally on the Courthouse steps in downtown Staunton. Their purpose was to honor fallen soldiers as well as soldiers continuously fighting everyday in Iraq.
"We just wanted to let the entire country know, that no matter where we're divided or what our opinions are on any of this, our troops are [in Iraq] and they must not forget we support them," said Winfield. "We honor them and we're thankful for the dedication and for them putting their lives on the line for us."
Several drivers who drove by the court house showed their support by honking their car horns, which continued throughout the rally.
