Hiring a new superintendent and redistricting, those are two of the main issues discussed at the Albemarle County School Board Tuesday.

The board met for what was suppose to serve as a public hearing dealing with the superintendent search, but no one attended the search hearing. The board decided to move on the touchy subject of redistricting.

A plan was presented to the school board after the superintendent revised an earlier plan. The board is hoping to come up with a plan that will be fair and would prevent having to redistrict the same areas in the future.

"Right now what we're doing is making the superintendent's recommendation," said School Board Member Pamela Maynihan. "We're looking it over and deciding whether we're going to send that to public comment or whether we're going to add some things that were in the original redistricting committee's recommendations."

The public forum dealing with redistricting is scheduled for Sept. 29 and parents are advised to attend, so board members can hear concerns before making a final decision.
