Over the past 10 years the area's job market has steadily increased. This is according to a study released by the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce. The decade-long study shows nearly 16,000 jobs have opened up since 1995. That's a 19 percent increase. The increase means good news for the region.

"You do the math on that, that's 71-million dollars in new revenues that can be applied towards schools, charities, the arts, etc. but it's obviously an infusion of money in the Charlottesville region," said Larry Banner of the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Private sector jobs are also up after a three-year job loss. Nearly 2,500 of them opened up in 2004.
