C-Ville Set to Host Musical Benefit Series

Video will be available shortly.

September 16, 2005

Charlottesville's musical community has banded together to create a unique concert series to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. It's called 'Charlottesville's Shelter From the Storm'.

The benefit runs from Sept. 22-25 and will feature concerts from multiple artists each day at different venues around the city. The event is set to end with an all-star, all-day show Sunday at the Charlottesville Pavilion. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go towards helping Katrina victims.

Organizers say apart from being a fundraiser, it's also a one-of-a-kind experience.

"I don't know if anything like this has ever been done before. We've done benefits before [where there] were multiple venues in one night, but never multiple venues in multiple days. So yes, this is unique," said organizer, Chris Munson.

The first three days tickets are not required for many of the shows, because they're accepting donations instead. For the concert on Sept. 25, a donation of at least $20 is needed to get in.

Tickets go on sale Monday, Sept. 19 at 12 p.m., and you can buy them at all Plan 9 locations, online at http://www.csfts.com or at the Charlottesville Pavilion on Sept. 25.
